JERSEY SURF SCHOOL – WEBSITE DISCLAIMER & PARTICIPATION TERMS

By booking or participating in any lesson, program, or event run by Jersey Surf School, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms:

1. Assumption of Risk

Surfing, ocean-based activities, and beach environments carry inherent risks, including but not limited to drowning, physical injury, collision, sunburn, dehydration, and exposure to unpredictable sea and weather conditions. Participation is entirely voluntary and undertaken at your own risk. Jersey Surf School accepts no responsibility for any injuries or accidents that may occur during participation.

2. Swimming Ability & Medical Conditions

By booking, you declare that you (or your child) are able to swim a minimum of 50 meters unaided in open water.
You also confirm that you have informed Jersey Surf School staff of any relevant medical conditions, allergies, or additional needs that may affect participation. Failure to disclose this information may result in exclusion from the session for safety reasons.

3. Medical & Physical Fitness

Participants are responsible for ensuring they are physically fit, healthy, and able to take part in surf lessons or lifesaving activities. Jersey Surf School staff are trained in first aid but do not offer medical services. In case of illness or injury, emergency services may be contacted, and any costs incurred will be the responsibility of the participant or parent/guardian.

4. Parental Responsibility & Safeguarding

For children under 18, consent must be given by a parent or guardian. While every effort is made to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all participants, children remain the responsibility of their parent or guardian outside of designated lesson times. Jersey Surf School follows safeguarding procedures aligned with best practice and child protection guidelines.

5. Equipment Use

All surfboards, wetsuits, and related gear provided remain the property of Jersey Surf School. Participants must treat equipment with care and follow all safety instructions. Jersey Surf School is not liable for injuries caused by equipment misuse or failure to follow staff guidance.

6. Ocean Conditions & Cancellations

Lessons may be rescheduled, modified, or cancelled due to unsafe or unsuitable weather and surf conditions. Our instructors have the final say on whether a session proceeds, and your safety is our top priority.

Please note: sessions cancelled by the participant within 24 hours of the scheduled lesson time are non-refundable. No-shows will also not be eligible for a refund. Cancellations made with more than 24 hours’ notice may be eligible for a reschedule or refund at our discretion.

7. Loss or Damage of Personal Property

Jersey Surf School is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged personal belongings during your time with us.

8. Media Consent

By attending any session, you agree to being included in photos or videos taken for promotional use. These may appear on our website, social media, and marketing materials. If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed, please notify us in writing prior to your session.

9. Acceptance of Terms

By making a booking or participating in any activity with Jersey Surf School, you confirm that:
